It's not working for me, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the key or car as central locking is fine, its' just the remote function not working. So I'm guessing I need to 'reset' the computer on the car, before going through the key programming routine.

The centre display is called the MFD or Multi Function Display. There are loads of post on here about it, to get the connector off you need to move the hinged clip around the connector, the clip is held in place by a small tab on the connector. Press the tab and move the hinge, the connector will come out.

The car wont start all instruments dash lights come on and headlights even when key is out so have to disconect the battery and when connect try to start same thing happens, also when open drivers door lights come on. My 54 plate xsara picasso 2.0 HDI central locking has recently stopped working either by the remote key fob or manually via the key, I can unlock/lock the drivers door manually but the only boot unlocks too,the passanger and rear doors have to be opened from the inside to unlock them!
sorry should have been clearer. yes i only rotated by hand battery was disconected before i started stripping down the belt. have done 2 of these in past year and i know they are straight forward couldnt figure why. thought maybe bolt or something had fell and caught in one of cogs or something. just wanted verification that i wont cause any harm by taking belt of an rotating the crank and
